Our Home

aylesbury vineyard
Located in the Ferguson Valley within the Geographe wine region, our property is home to a 200 strong Angus beef breeding herd, complimented with vineyard plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. This fruit is used in the Pater Seriers, QO5 and Waterfall Gully ranges.
Our climate is similar to that of Western Europe – with the Douro valley of Portugal most similar to the Ferguson Valley in WA. Cool wet winters and warm dry summers provide ideal conditions for grape-growing. The property is 200 hectares in total, with approximately 9 hectares under vine. The elevation of 160-220 metres above sea level enables the cooling sea breezes to reach the vineyard from the Indian Ocean. North-facing slopes were chosen as the best sites for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. The soil types of the property are fertile, rich, chocolate loam with underlying clay, helping to retain moisture for the vines. The native Australian forests surrounding our property provide pure, clean water for our vines throughout summer. This pristine environment is incredibly well suited to the production of high-quality grapes, which in turn helps us to create beautifully complex and balanced wines.
Geographe is proving to be one of the most diverse and exciting wine regions in Western Australia. A recent strategic decision to specialise in alternative grape varieties well suited to the conditions of our vineyard has led to some exciting new projects with interesting changes on the way.
Vermentino is planned for harvest in 2022, while plans are in place for patches of Grenache and Touriga Nacionale. Longer term there are other exciting varietals on the way so “watch this space!!”.

52 stones vineyard
Since 2018 we have been fortunate and grateful for the opportunity to take on the 52 Stones vineyard. There is a history here of national trophies and awards for wines from this vineyard – particularly Chardonnay.
With elevation nearing 300m and a southern aspect this property is unique to the region in that its relatively cool climate produces high quality Chardonnay, Arneis and Gamay fruit for the Aylesbury Pater and QO5 range.
